Leaving for Houston, TX

Leaving early tomorrow morning to go on a short term mission trip with my church. We will be working with Habital for Humanity to build homes for the Katrina's victims. This is an exciting opportunity because i have always wanted to work with Habital for Humanity, plus, i really wanted to do something when Katrina happened. So, this will be a great way to meet those two goals. It will be a four days trip. We will be working friday and saturday, sunday will be spend worshiping and sight-seeing.
I haven't been able to sleep for the past couple of weeks. I don't know what is wrong with me but i would wake up at night with back aches and chest pains. So, some nights i would sleep on the cough (for some reason, it does relieve some of the pain because of the extra cushions), and other nights, i would take some advils before going to bed. Please pray that the pain would finally go away for this trip because we will be sleeping on hard wood floor or the pew. I am bringing my camping pad, but i am sure it'll be too tough for my back. I have been sensing that this is more a spiritual battle rather than a physical one. I wasn't sure whether it was for this short term trip or for the church's retreat. Since it hasn't go away yet, i assume it's more for this short term trip. So, i am hoping that the pain would be lessen once i am on the plane. Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the people that we'll meet and to bless the house that we'll be building. Especially pray for the people who will be living in those houses. Pray that God will give me courage to say what needs to be said and to say it at the right time.

If only...

My second week in Epic, and my pastor sent this out to the congregation a couple of days ago:

Hi Epic Church Family:

I wanted to formally welcome Fiona Wong to our staff part-time as our
Office Assistant. An aspiring teacher and native New Yorker, Fiona
brings a wealth of experience and love for the church. Having
started last Friday, she has already made a noticeable difference
bringing order to the chaos that is our office and increasing our
productivity on staff. Fiona will be working in this position from
now until the end of August 06.

Please note that any announcements, administrative questions, or room
reservations for ***********. can now be directed to Fiona at
****@epicchurch.net. Also note that Fiona's office hours are limited
to Friday's only. She is enjoying worship service as a member of
the church on Sunday's.

We are grateful for Fiona and her valuable assistance in this season
at Epic.

This morning, as i was looking through my emails. This thought occurs to me, if the pastor at CCHC remotely comes close to welcome me the way epic did, how long would i have worked there? 10 years? Perhaps, but now we'll never know. I have to say tho, i do look forward to fridays in a different light nowaday.

First Day at Epic

It's my first day as an office assistant. I am pretty exhausted. Thought it will be an easy day compare to working in the school. Not that it's as exhausting as teaching, but i am pretty tired by the end of the day. Plus after house church, i am pretty out of it at this point since i have been out since 8 this morning and it's 12:30 am already. It has been a really good day. I had lots of fun at work, and I really enjoyed doing office work. It's a no-brainer, yet I feel productive and useful because I can see the fruits of my labor. I am excited to see how things will unfold at work.
